(KMOV.com) – Police in O’Fallon, Ill. are searching for a man accused of stealing eyeglasses from a store in the area.

According to police, a man took a few pairs of eyeglasses and fled the scene at All About Eyes in the 1000 block of Central Park Dr. at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Police say that the man may be connected to an incident at a Clarkson Eyecare just minutes before the All About Eyes robbery. An employee for Clarkson told News 4 that a young man tried to slip a pair of $340 glasses into his pocket before employees noticed and quickly stopped him.

James Cadins with the O’Fallon Police Department told News 4 that the suspect has “a pattern of behavior that this is probably not his first time out committing a crime, so we want to make sure we get him off the streets as soon as we can”.

Police say that the suspect is a black male, 5 ft. 9 in. tall and is in his late teens or early 20’s. Police warn that if the suspect is spotted do not approach him but call the O’Fallon Police Department at (618)624-4545.
