(KMOV) – A Pike County man was charged for the shooting death of his son following an argument over the weekend.
Witnesses say Michael Lee Phillips, 45, shot his 22-year-old son Jeff Chisholm in the neck after the two reportedly got into an argument on September 1.
According to police, Phillips said “He came at me so I had to shoot him.” He also claimed to have fired a warning shot at Chisholm before firing the fatal shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Phillips was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
He is being held at the Pike County Jail on a $200,000 cast-only bond.
