Doak’s 938 strikeouts came wayyyyy back in the early 20th century. From 1913 to 1923, Doak was the shut down man on the mound for the cardinals. He appeared in 11 games in 1924 and returned for 3 more in 1929 as well. One thing was certain: you don’t hit home runs off Bill Doak. He allowed just 56 homers in 376 games with the Cardinals.
