One home destroyed, another damaged in Metro-East fires

(KMOV.com) -- Cahokia authorities are investigating after two homes caught fire just doors away from each other early Sunday morning.

Firefighters received the first call about a house fire on Saint Robert in Cahokia around 5 a.m. Moments later, the Cahokia Fire Department received a call about a fire on Saint Thomas.

Investigators report the home on Saint Robert was completely burned out.

Officials say that both homes were vacant at the times of the fires.

The investigation is ongoing.
