(KMOV) -- The Missouri Secretary of State issued a warning about a business investigated by News 4’s Chris Nagus.

The warning alerts Missouri business owners about deceptive letters from Corporate Records Service, a Michigan-based company with a history of misleading business owners.

The company sends out letters claiming that, for a fee of $125, they will take care of the company’s annual minutes for the state.

That paperwork is not required to be submitted with the Secretary of State’s Office. Last year, Nagus spoke with the Illinois Secretary of State about similar complaints from small businesses in the Metro East.

People who have received the deceptive mailer are encouraged to report their experience to the Secretary of State’s office.
