Hartford, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A 23-year-old man  killed in an accident at an industrial site along the Mississippi River Thursday evening has been identified.

According to officials, the worker was identified as Jason T. Sagez from Hardin, Illinois.

Hartford Fire Chief Dave Owens says Sagez was hit by a four-ton propeller while working at National Maintenance, a boat repair company in the 400 block of S. Hawthorne.

Workers were reportedly attempting to remove the propeller after Sagez was struck and knocked into the Mississippi River.

Owens said Sagez was knocked into the water for about 30 seconds. Efforts by coworkers and emergency responders to revive him were not successful.

An autopsy conducted Friday morning indicated that Sagez died as a result of blunt force trauma to the pelvis. Routine toxicology testing is pending.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin.
