(KMOV) -- A special meeting Wednesday night in the Normandy School District provides more fireworks regarding the highly charged court-sanctioned student transfer plan involving the Francis Howell School District.

The meeting was held at Lucas Crossing Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. and item four on the agenda allowed parents another opportunity to speak their minds.

If the meeting is anything like others held regarding the issue, people won’t miss their chance to let their feelings be known.

Just late last week, tempers flared during a meeting in the Francis Howell School District.

Students can transfer from the unaccredited Riverview Gardens and Normandy School districts to any district in the same county or any neighboring county.

Frustration spawned because the districts will only provide buses for the Normandy students to go to Howell schools and the Riverview students to go to Mehlville schools.

But the question remains on how many students will choose to transfer. The latest numbers show nearly 400 students from Normandy and around 300 from Riverview Gardens applied to transfer.

Hazelwood district officials say 43 Normandy and Riverview students are transferring there. Kirkwood schools have also received over a dozen transfers.

Kirkwood is one of several districts to revise policies on school transfers since the court’s ruling.
