(KMOV) – News 4 Investigator Craig Cheatham looked into several teacher sex abuse cases around the county including several in the St. Louis area to find out what sentencing they faced.

Some teachers did get prison time but it was not unusual to see teachers receive probation for the crime.

In cases throughout the metro area, and in nearly every other case, the teacher was required to register as a sex offender for life. Which also meant their teaching certification was revoked.

Cheatham profiles several cases in an effort to see what David Marler could face if found guilty for statutory sodomy among other charges.
