(KMOV) – A Metro East sporting goods store is selling guns without a special-use gun permit and that has a neighborhood angry.

The sporting goods store, Piasa Armory is next door to a domestic abuse shelter in downtown Alton. Leaders at the shelter are speaking out because they want the store to play by the rules.

The city of Alton granted the store a sporting goods license but its owner chose to only sell guns. When neighbors found out, they asked them to get a special-use permit to sell the weapons.

It was turned down but technically, that won’t stop the store from selling more guns.

News 4’s Brittany Noble went to the store to find out why. Click the video player to see the full report.
