(KMOV.com) – The Highland Police Department said they sounded sirens Friday evening around 7:45 p.m. even though there were no tornado warnings in the area.

Police said winds that were traveling in the area at speeds over 60 miles per hour met the criteria to sound the siren.

There were no active reports of funnel sightings.
