ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) – Kathy Rausch, a 41-year-old second-grade teacher at Wohlwend Elementary School in the Mehlville School District, unexpectedly died this week, Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost announced Friday.

“Kathy has been with the Mehlville School District for a number of years, serving as a teacher at Wohlwend and previously Forder. The coming days will be especially difficult for Kathy’s family, the Wohlwend students and community, and many staff members and friends who knew her personally,” Knost said in a statement posted on the district’s Facebook page. “Let’s support all of these people with our thoughts and prayers as Wohlwend works through this very tragic loss.”

Mehlville School District officials said Rausch’s cause of death was unknown and being investigated.

Additional information was not immediately available.
