ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A trash truck driver was following protocol and emptying a dumpster when he found a man who was reportedly inside.

The dumpster is behind the art museum in Forest Park and was emptied around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. A man was said to be sleeping inside the bin and ended up in the back of the truck when it was emptied. The bin is primarily used for recycling and was filled with cardboard boxes when the man climbed in last night.

The man was assisted out of the dump truck but sustained some injuries. The driver allegedly saw the man being dumped in his rear-view mirror and told police he heard him screaming.

The man, who had been thrown into the truck, said he was asleep inside the dumpster and woke up only when it was turned upside down.

The art museum has video of the incident but is not releasing it as part of their security measures.

The man, who was not identified, was charged the man with trespassing and scavenging.

The driver was reportedly shaken up by the incident.

The man’s injuries were not life threatening, but he was transported to a nearby hospital.
