(KMOV) – A Madison County man is behind bars after allegedly promising home repair work to an elderly man, then stealing the money.

Noah Boswell, 24, of Pontoon Beach, was charged Monday with theft over $500 by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

On December 10, Boswell and another man allegedly made a verbal agreement with a Glen Carbon man to do home repair work.

The elderly victim told authorities he paid the men with a check before they began any work.  Additionally, the two men reportedly returned claiming the check did not clear and demanded a cash payment.

According to authorities, after the man paid the men cash he discovered the check had cleared the bank.

Boswell is behind held in the Madison County jail.

No further information was given on pending charges for the second suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
