(KMOV) – With another big cold snap in the area, News 4 went asking furnace repairmen what their schedules are looking like.
News 4 learned last month was the busiest January in years and February is continuing that trend.
Technicians tell News 4 furnaces are failing because of things like dirty flame sensors and dirty filters but mostly because they’re running almost constantly; much more than in recent winters.
“We’re finding you’re going to have those failures that you might not have had last winter. And if people aren’t checking their equipment ahead of time, having things cleaned, there’s much more opportunity to have those problems,” said Joel Sigman of Sigman Heating and Air Conditioners.
Replacing the filters regularly and keeping the system’s air intake vent clear of obstructions will do a lot to keep heaters working properly.
