(KMOV) – Following an investigation prompted by medical staff at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in September 2012, a Troy man is now facing a list of charges after admitting to seriously injuring his three-month-old daughter.

Mark Alan Bingle, 25, was charged Monday with three counts of felony first-degree domestic assault causing serious physical injury and two counts of felony second-degree domestic assault.

According to investigators, Bingle’s daughter suffered from multiple rib fractures, a leg fracture, eye hemorrhaging, a bruised knee and back, and abnormal liver problems.  Doctors told investigators the parents could provide no explanation for the injuries during the discussion in 2012.

During an interview, Bingle told investigators he would place his daughter between his thigh and chest, forcibly squeezing her on several occasions.  Bingle also said he could hear bones cracking in her body, especially in her back.

When the infant would cry, Bingle told investigators he would force her into a pillow in an effort to quiet her.  Additionally, Bingle confessed to forcibly placing his daughter on the couch hard enough to “possibly” cause harm.

Furthermore, Bingle told investigators during the same interview that he suffered from anger and mental issues and knowingly acknowledged he could have killed his daughter by squeezing her.

Authorities said Bingle told police he had done the same thing so many times he could not remember.

According to court documents, the alleged abuse took place between June 5, 2012 and September 8, 2012.

Bingle was arrested and charged with one count of felony domestic assault in September 2012.  However, Bingle posted bail after his bond was reduced from $25,000 to $500 in April 2013.

According to authorities, Bingle’s original charge from September 2012 was dropped and the case was re-filed Monday with the Lincoln County Prosecutor’s Office to include the four additional counts of domestic assault.

The victim continues to recover with her mother.

Bingle is currently being held at the Lincoln County Jail, where he remains on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
