ST. LOUIS, Mo (KMOV.com) -- Emergency crews responded to a house fire in Webster Groves early Tuesday morning that was likely caused by a lightning strike.
Heavy flames were seen coming through the roof of a home around 1:00 a.m. in the 200 block of Oakwood. The fire quickly went to a second alarm, as Webster Groves called Kirkwood and Mehlville fire departments for support.
The family heard a large clap of thunder around 11:00 Monday night and then lost power. A homeowner walked around the outside of the house and did not see or smell anything. About two hours later the smoke alarm began sounding.
The home's occupants were able to make it out safely. No one was injured.
