(KMOV.com) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the ramp from Jefferson Avenue to westbound I-64 just after midnight Monday morning, June 17. The ramp will be closed for three weeks, while crews connect the new ramp to the interstate and to Jefferson. Motorists can detour to 14th or Market/Compton to access westbound I-64.
Interstate 64 will be reduced to only one lane overnight for two nights next week for construction at the new Chesterfield Airport Road ramp bridge. Crews will be shifting the lanes on I-64 to create a work area in the median of I-64 at this bridge. Beginning at 8 p.m., Monday, June 17, crews will close one lane and then two lanes of eastbound I-64. After the eastbound lanes are striped and moved over, lanes will be closed on westbound I-64.
All lanes of I-64 will be open to traffic no later than 5 a.m. If necessary, crews will complete the work westbound on the evening of Tuesday, June 18 with the lane closures from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. The work is weather permitting and may shift a day in case of rain, which would prevent restriping. The work zone for the construction of the new Chesterfield Airport Road ramp to westbound I-64 will still have three normal sized lanes for I-64 traffic in both directions. However, the shoulders will be reduced to only two feet. The lanes shifted over for this work zone will remain in place until this fall. The ramp from Chesterfield Airport Road to westbound I-64 will remain open during construction, however the ramp will be narrowed.
MoDOT and contractor Walsh Construction have rescheduled the closure of the ramp from westbound Interstate 70 to southbound Fifth Street for Monday, June 17. The closure will begin starting at 8 p.m. Monday, June 17 until Monday, July 8 for bridge repair work.
Three lanes of westbound I-70 will remain open and the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound Fifth Street will remain open during this three week closure. On Monday, June 17, crews will close one lane of westbound I-70 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday morning to set up the work zone and close the ramp to southbound Fifth Street.
Only two lanes will be open to traffic on westbound I-70 overnight Monday, June 17. Three lanes will be back open for I-70 traffic by 5 a.m. Tuesday.
In St. Louis and St. Charles Counties, two eastbound lanes will close on the I-64 Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge next week for the bi-annual bridge inspection. Two left lanes will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday and Tuesday. Two right lanes will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday. The bridge will have two lanes open during the inspection.
