KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - A couple responding to an ad for a car on Craigslist in Kansas City was shot, robbed and had their vehicle stolen, police said.

As frightening as that was, the couple's young son was with them. The child was unharmed.

According to police, the man and woman came to look at a car they had spotted online. While showing the vehicle, the seller made a call. That was when two men came out with guns to rob them, police said.

The couple was shot, and the three men stole the woman's purse, which contained $3,000, and the couple's white Hyundai.

The man shielded his wife and son during the incident. His son was not hit, but both he and his wife were seriously injured in the shooting. The two were rushed to the hospital.
