John Knicely anchors final newscast for News 4

(KMOV) -- John Knicely anchored his final show on Thursday, wishing St. Louis a fond farewell on News 4 at 10 p.m.

Knicely, who joined the KMOV team in 2009, will head to Seattle to become the morning anchor at CBS affiliate KIRO.

John came to KMOV after working as a reporter for CBS 11 in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Before that John was at WCCB in Charlotte, NC where he worked as weekend anchor and news reporter.

Prior to WCCB, John worked as weekend anchor and news reporter for WPSD-TV in Paducah, KY. There he covered Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, and Northwest Tennessee.

John was named Best Reporter by the Kentucky AP three consecutive years. He also won Kentucky and Illinois AP awards for investigative journalism and feature reporting. In Charlotte John won two RTNDA of the Carolinas awards. He won one for his coverage of the Virginia Tech Massacre and another for the story of a fire rescue team's efforts in a fire that killed 2 firefighters.

John is a 2003 graduate of Baylor University in Waco, TX. There he began his broadcasting career as a production assistant for KWTX-TV.
