( – A Jennings woman is dead, and police say her ex-boyfriend killed her in the home the woman shared with her six children Monday morning.

Police said they found 32-year-old Antoinetta Davis dead from a gunshot wound at a house in the 7000 block of Florence Pl. around 1:55 a.m.

Authorities said she was found after the children, ages 2 through 13, ran out of the home to a St. Louis County police station a short distance away, and told officers their mother had been shot.

Police spokesman Randy Vaughn says a 40-year-old suspect who turned himself in about three hours after the shooting was Davis’ ex-boyfriend and is the father of some of the children.

It isn’t clear if any of the children saw the shooting.

The suspect turned himself in around 5 a.m. at the Justice Services office in Clayton.

The St. Louis County adult abuse office told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Davis had not sought any restraining orders, at least in the past six months.

The city of Jennings operated its own police department until March 2012, when the department was disbanded and St. Louis County took over.

The former Jennings Police Station is now used by St. Louis County as a sub-station. The building is just steps away from the home where the shooting occurred.
