(KMOV) -- A phone company refused to take responsibility for overcharging an Iron County man’s phone bill for four years until the man called Colombo.
“I complained when I paid the bill, but they always gave me reasons why,” said Oliver Adkins. “If you ever looked at the bill, you would see there was no way to understand it.”
During a period of four years, Adkins’ phone provider, Century Link, had been charging Adkins twice for long distance on his land line. After repeatedly calling the company to fix the situation, Century Link said they investigated the discrepancy, but refused to return the overpaid money to Adkins.
A spokeswoman for the company said the reason they refused to refund the money is because it was Adkins fault for calling the wrong department. Adkins repeatedly called the billing department, but according to Century Link, issues like this are rectified in customer service.
The company also wouldn’t transfer Adkins to customer service because it doesn’t discuss customer accounts.
Adkins then called Colombo who called Century Link. Fifteen minutes later, Century Link called Adkins telling him they were sending him a refund check for $1556.00.
