(KMOV) – Three young people were killed and another injured after a convertible slammed into a deck and a tree in the St. Louis County town of Wildwood late Thursday night.
The wreck happened at the intersection of Homestead Manor Dr. and Rieger Rd. just before 10 p.m.
Officials said a male and three females were in a convertible with the top down going at a high rate of speed when it left the road and struck the deck of a nearby home.
Authorities said the car went through the deck, which had concrete pillars on it, and went down a wooded hill about 120 yards before hitting a tree.
Authorities say the male driver and a female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman died in a helicopter en route to a hospital.
The third woman suffered minor injuries.
Authorities said all victims were in their late teens.
Two people were sitting on the deck patio when the wreck happened but they were not hurt.
An investigation continues into the cause of the wreck. Names have not been released.
