ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police say an incoming freshman at Hazelwood Central High School made a very disturbing threat – he planned to shoot all of the bullies at the school.

School officials tell News 4 they do not know anything except that the incoming student told his therapist that he was planning a mass shooting against bullies.  The student is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation and will be held at a local hospital until he is considered no longer a threat which can be difficult according to child experts.

“You don’t want to overreact until you have more information but on the other hand you want to make sure you don’t ignore it either so finding that balance is really difficult in this situation,” Dr. Jerry Dunn said.

St. Louis County police consider this an ongoing investigation and say they will keep a close eye on the student when he is released.

Hazelwood Central High School begins having classes on August 13.
