(KMOV) – An imprisoned felon is suing several local cities, police departments and a college for an extremely large sum of money claiming he was falsely arrested.
Rufus Jones, 48, blames Southwestern Illinois College, St. Clair County, Randolph County, Belleville, Sparta, Sparta Police Department, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, two prosecutors and several individuals for what he calls "psychological injuries” and is suing for nearly $1.7 trillion.
He said in a hand-written suit in federal court that he was falsely arrested and unfairly banned from the college campus.
According to court documents, Jones actually pleaded guilty to battery for inappropriately touching a classmate at Southwestern Illinois College.
He is serving out his sentence at the Western Correctional Center in Mount Sterling.
