(KMOV.com) – Three fire deparments battled a blaze that broke out in Jersey County Tuesday night.
Godfrey and Brighton fire departments were called in to assist the QEM Fire Protection District after a fire swept through a home in the 15000 block of Alva St. in Dow, Ill. around 11 p.m.
Crews got the fire out and two people inside of the home made it out safely.
According to the QEM assistant fire chief on the scene, the fire may have sparked when someone inside the home tried turning the heat up while the pipes were frozen.
The home was destroyed and two neighboring garages were damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
