JENNINGS, Mo (KMOV.com) – Police say an estranged boyfriend stabbed a woman to death in a Jennings apartment Tuesday night.
According to reports, Sophie Moore, 28, kicked her 32-year-old estranged boyfriend out of her house in the 9400 block of Dawn Court last week.
Around 10:00 Tuesday night, the boyfriend beat on Moore’s door before entering her home. He immediately began punching Moore several times.
As Moore attempted to escape the house through the back kitchen window, the suspect stabbed her multiple times with a knife.
Moore’s two sons, eight and nine years old, were in the home at the time of the attack. They were able to flee the home to a neighbor’s where they called for help.
Upon arrival, police found Moore suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The murder weapon was recovered as well.
The boyfriend fled the scene but later turned himself in to Jennings police at 1:30 Wednesday morning. Investigators say the suspect confessed to the stabbing death. He is currently in the custody of Jennings police.
Charges are expected to be announced Wednesday afternoon.
