(KMOV) -- A former employee of a Sunset Hills gas station was fired after her employer found out she was allegedly stealing money by using lottery tickets.
Olivia J. Hoffschwelle, 20, was charged with stealing more than $500, a felony.
According to police, Hoffschwelle was working at the 66 U-Gas station and would scan a customer’s lottery ticket to confirm whether they had won or not.
Authorities say if the customer won she would pay out from the cash drawer, but would not mark them in the lottery system as redeemed. She would then take the winning tickets to another store to redeem them for cash.
According to prosecutors, she stole more than $500 from the convenience store and pocketed more than $400 for herself.
