The Belleville News-Democrat reports that former Alorton streets superintendent Ronnie Cummings was sentenced Monday. Prosecutors had sought four years in prison, while the defense asked for two years and nine months.
Cummings was convicted of being a felon in possession of a weapon that was a clip of ammunition and of lying to federal agents. He'd previously been convicted of dealing cocaine.
His brother, former Alorton Police Chief Robert Cummings, served six months of home confinement and is serving four years of probation for filing false tax returns.
