ST. LOUIS -- A book of Puritan psalms produced in 1640 will be on display in St. Louis on Friday.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Bay Psalm Book was the first book made in what would become the United States. Only 11 copies of the book exist.
It will be in St. Louis Friday at the St. Louis Mercantile Library as part of a national tour before it is sold in an auction.
David Redden, of auction house Sotheby’s in New York, says he thinks the leather-bound book will sell for between $15 million and $30 million when it is auctioned in November.
The auction copy is one of two owned by the Old South Church in Boston, which is selling it to raise money.
