(KMOV.com) -- A 6-year-old boy was dropped off at a Kansas City, Mo. fire station Monday after his father told firefighters he couldn’t handle the little boy any longer.

Missouri’s Safe Haven Law allows parents to drop off a baby up to one-year-old at a fire station, hospital or law enforcement building with no questions asked.

“He’s only there when he wants to be around, not when little Donald Junior needs him to be around,” said the boy’s mother, Alisha Lattimore. “I’m a true believer of my mama and my dad in my life. And that’s what I want for my son.”

Lattimore said her son is okay and he doesn’t really understand the fight between his parents.

She said he only remembers the fire station he visited on Monday.
