(KMOV) --  An elderly woman fell victim to an armed carjacking in a neighborhood that is not known for high crime.

The 73-year-old woman had a gun pointed at her head by two men who ambushed her while she was taking holiday decorations and groceries out of her car in south St. Louis.

Authorities have yet to locate her car or purse which were both stolen. The suspects have not been caught at this time.

Crime in the south St. Louis City area is down significantly over the last year but police say a carjacking like this is pretty rare.

The 23rd Ward Alderman Joe Vaccaro expected an uptick in crime this time of year but says these recent cases feel different.

So far, suspects in the carjacking or the rash of burglaries reported while residents slept are still at-large.
