(KMOV.com) - A man is in custody after police said he abused his infant daughter in East St. Louis.

24-year-old Latajhi Millender, of East St. Louis, is charged with aggravated battery of a child.

Police said the child's mother, who is allegedly homeless, went to Millender's residence in the John Deshields public housing complex and noticed the child was not acting properly so she took her to hospital.

Police said doctors at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital determined the victim had suffered abuse. They also said she had sustained 20 fractures, and injuries to her skull, left eye, and brain.

Police also said some of the injuries were new and others were old.

Bond has been set at $1 million. The investigation continues.
