(KMOV.com) – The final gap in the Stan Musial Veteran’s Memorial Bridge will come together beginning on Thursday.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) announced Tuesday the final piece of the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge will be installed on Friday officially connecting Missouri and Illinois.
MoDOT said steel girders will be installed Thursday and the final piece of steel connecting Missouri and Illinois will be installed the next day.
Construction workers recently finished installing the cables on both sides of the bridge.
The new bridge will connect Interstate 70 from the I-55/I-64/I-70 interchange on the Illinois side to I-70 near Cass Avenue in Missouri. It will have two lanes of traffic going each with the ability to expand to three.
You can watch crews complete the last stretch of bridge from the pump house along the Mississippi River in north St. Louis near the Mullanphy entrance to the river wall.
