(KMOV.com) – The St. Charles County Council is ordering the Director of Elections to repay the county more than $200,000.
The refund comes after officials said Rich Chrismer overcharged local government to run elections. After a county and state audit of the elections office, the board unanimously passed the measure.
Chrismer has been under fire after a man who sought to be a candidate for St. Charles County sheriff accused Chrismer of keeping his name off ballot because of race. A former elections office employee said Chrismer fired her after she decided to run for the office he currently holds.
