(KMOV) -- A Collinsville man was arrested last Saturday in connection with a rooster fight.
The Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance at the residence of James T. Watkins, where blood and feathers were found in the living room. A female resident told deputies that Watkins had been fighting roosters in the home on Friday night.
Deputies found a dead rooster outside in the trash can, and a live rooster was found in a bush outside the home. Deputies also found trophies and books related to rooster fighting inside the home.
A neighbor claimed that the two roosters were his, and were stolen from his property. The neighbor valued the roosters at $250 each.
Watkins was charged on Tuesday in Madison County Circuit Court with felony charges of theft for more than $300.
