(KMOV) – A massive hole remains in a north St. Louis street after it collapsed due to a broken water line Thursday afternoon.
Crews at the site on N. Broadway between Warren and Montgomery could be working for weeks to repair the nearly 100-foot long hole. Officials said it’s also about 10 feet wide and eight feet deep.
Authorities said the hole was caused after fire suppression water lines broke under the pavement and washed out the substructure.
In the meantime, traffic will be funneled into one lane in each direction as crews work to fill the hole.
Crews also have to go underground to determine whether sewer and gas lines were affected.
