ALTON, Ill. (KMOV) – Man offered plea bargain for guilty plea for 2011 murder of Tyler Hoppe.

The State’s Attorney says Nigel Generally, 21, of Berkley plead guilty to first degree murder for the shooting death of Tyler Hoppe.

Hoppe was found shot in his vehicle by his father at his Alton home December 7,  2011.

A second man, Larry Belk, was also charged in the murder case.

Generally’s guilty plea was the result of a plea bargain. Prosecutors agreed that he would serve no more than 40 years in jail, instead of up to 60 years, which was the maximum sentence for the charges.

If found guilty in court. Generally will have to serve 100-percent of whatever jail time he’s given.

Sentencing has not yet been set.
