(KMOV) –The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a teenager they say damaged their patrol vehicles and stole items out of them, including a shotgun.

Deputies responded to a call Friday morning reporting property damage and stealing from patrol cars in the Village of Jefferson and Parkton subdivisions in Barnhart.
Authorities say Scott Smith, 19, of Barnhart, broke into the patrol cars by punching out or removing door locks and stole a camera and shotgun, among other items.
Police determined Smith to be a suspect after a short investigation in the neighborhoods. Police were able to retrieve all of the stolen items after arresting Smith.
Smith has been charged with three counts of property damage in the first degree, two counts of stealing and a final count of stealing a firearm.
Smith remains in custody on no bond.
