(KMOV) -- Detectives say a bank robber who wore a wig during a hold up at the Commerce Bank in Columbia, Ill.on Monday was really a man.
Authorities say he’s a serial robber responsible for two other bank holdups.
Columbia Police tell News 4 that the man is also responsible for robbing the Neighbors Credit Union in south St. Louis County on Dec. 14 and the First Bank in Town and Country on Thursday.
Police say the robber wore a wig and heavy makeup to disguise his identity, and handed the teller a note indicating that he had a weapon. The robber then placed the money in a purse and walked out of the bank.
In the South County holdup, the suspect wore dark makeup and a dark wig that gave the appearance of an African American woman, but detectives say they’re confident it’s the same man responsible for the other robberies.
Police have released a surveillance photo of a customer who was in the First Bank in Town and Country at the time of the robbery, and are hoping that person saw something that could help their investigation.
Investigators are also asking anyone who recognizes the man to contact them and are asking the suspect to come forward to speak with them.
