(KMOV) – Thousands were without power after heavy winds and rain barreled through the area.
Ameren crews were out in force Thursday working to restore power to as many people as possible following the storm.
Ameren Missouri quadrupled the number of workers in the St. Louis area to handle the power outages, bringing in employees and contactors from Cape Girardeau, Jefferson City, Lake of the Ozarks and from Illinois.
While homeowners are anxious to begin the clean-up after any major storm, the utility company cautions residents to wait until they are absolutely sure any downed power lines have been cleared.
