(KMOV) — A missing child that prompted AMBER alerts from St. Louis County police was found inside an abandoned vehicle in south St. Louis late Monday night.
Authorities say Tristin Readye, 1, was found in good condition.
Authorities say Readye was in the 2004 yellow Monte Carlo when it was stolen from a convenience store in the 2900 block of Patterson in north St. Louis County. According to police, the child’s mother was inside the store when someone jumped in the car and took off.
Readye was found abandoned in the Monte Carlo near the intersection of Illinois and S. Broadway around 10:30 p.m.
St. Louis County police issued AMBER and SARAA alerts around 11:20 p.m., nearly an hour after Readye was discovered.
"Thank America, thank everybody, just thank you," said family member Mark Dixson. "He's fine, he's fine."
Police have not released any information on a suspect.
Authorities say the stolen vehicle would be returned to the mother after it was processed by police. It was not immediately clear if she faces charges for leaving the child inside the car.
