SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police said a 27-year old man is lucky to be alive after accidentally shooting himself in the head.
The shooting happened at a home in the 600 block of Sterling on the city's east side just after 1 a.m.
He apparently thought the gun was unloaded when he was showing it to his girlfriend.
He pointed the gun toward his head and the gun accidentally went off. He received a bullet wound to the head.
His girlfriend called 911 immediately and he was taken to SAMMC with non life-threatening injures.
Amazingly, the victim was able to walk himself to the ambulance.
No charges are expected to filed
