(KMOV) – More than a dozen vehicles were involved in a chain reaction wreck in downtown St. Louis early Wednesday morning.

According to police, a tractor trailer was among at least 20 vehicles involved in the crash on eastbound Interstate 70 at Memorial Dr. around 5:15 a.m.

At least one person was taken away from the scene on a stretcher. Crews were still assessing injuries, none of which were considered life-threatening.

Eleven of the approximately 20 vehicles sustained heavy damage.

A portion of eastbound I-70 was shut down for about 90 minutes until the wreck was cleared around 6:40 a.m.

Fog settled over the region early Wednesday, but it wasn't immediately clear if that was a factor.

Additional details were not immediately available.
