(KMOV) –Thirteen members of the Normandy High School choir are heading to the Big Apple for a performance of a lifetime.

They’re taking part in the National High School Choral Festival at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

“Very excited to know that I’m going to be going to New York, where I’ve been wanting to go  kind of my whole life,” said Christian Wallace.

Out of the 13 kids who are going to compete, only four have been on planes to leave St. Louis. But they’re overcoming anxiety and converting it into action

Normandy is one of four high school choirs picked from a crop of more than 60 across the country.

On Sunday, they’ll find out if they’ll be the featured act at the national competition.
