(KMOV) -- Baseball's trade deadline is fast approaching. The deadline arrives on July 31st, and the Cardinals have been rumored to be shopping around for a 5th starter.

There's been speculation they're interested in Matt Garza of the Cubs, but it's highly doubtful John Mozeliak would send a high level prospect to a team within the division.

In fact, Mozeliak might not want to make any kind of major trade. At Thursday's workout at Busch Mozeliak said "there are certain things we'll be looking at between now and the 31st, but all of our work is almost done.

You're not going to see the Cardinals out and about more just because there are ten days left in the trading deadline. It's really about us understanding what we're looking for, and how to go about getting it".

If the Cardinals do make a deal, it'll almost certainly be for pitching. Mozeliak said "I don't know where we could chase for more offense. I don't know where you'd put it. From an offensive standpoint we're a very good team".

I would expect the Cardinals would do something. Probably won't be a major deal, but they'll do something to add another starting pitcher as long as it doesn't cost them much. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Right now, at 21 games over .500 and sitting in first place, the Cardinals aren't broken.
