ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) -- A St. Louis County family is resting easier now because they feel their father is now finally at rest.
Sunday marked the one-year anniversary since Cathy Strupel’s father, Clifford Strupel, passed away.
But up until recently, Clifford Strupel’s headstone was missing.
A week after her father died, she paid Schaefer Monuments to have the date of death engraved on her father’s marker.
Up until last week, she had been waiting for it for almost a year.
“What happened is we got behind,” said Rich Schaefer, who told News 4 his company was small and overwhelmed with work.
Schaefer promised to get it done after News 4 ran a story on Struple. He made good on his promise. An engraver on Thursday went to St. Ferdinand Cemetery in Florissant and finished the stone.
The Strupel family said they were very pleased that the job was done in time for the one-year anniversary.
As for the money Cathy already paid to Schaefer, he has promised personally he will send her a refund.
