ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A News 4 investigation got big results for a north St. Louis County homeowner.

More than a year ago, Doris Allen paid Kiela Robertson of K&D home specialists to replace her roof.

But after cashing the check, Robertson disappeared without doing a thing.

After exposing the crooked contractor, News 4 was flooded with calls to help.

“She’s a con artist, she’s a shyster,” Allen said about Robertson. “She needs to be in jail.”

Matt Thornton, who owns Advanced Roofing and Exteriors in St. Charles, saw the story.

“The lady is handicap, has a live-in nurse, she’s blind,” Thornton said. “You did the story, we saw it, we wanted to reach out to her.”

Thornton’s company donated all the labor to replace Allen’s roof.

But since Kiela Robertson never delivered the roofing materials to do the job, Thornton called Rick Pogue at Arrowhead Building and Supply in St. Peters.

“We donated the roofing materials, we donated the dumpster” said Pogue.

The contractors came to the rescue to help a woman who was out thousands of dollars and had no means to pay for a new roof.

Within a few hours, the team completed a job that was supposed to be done by K&D Home Specialists more than a year ago.

“There’s no words to express my thanks to them, I didn’t know what to do, I had no recourse” said Allen.

News 4 wants to say thanks again to Arrowhead Building and Supply and Advanced Roofing and Exteriors for making the bad situation better for Allen.
