ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A woman who just moved to St. Louis from Florida says she got an rude introduction to the city after being ripped off by the owner of a masonry company.

Annette Guisewite says she paid Terry Marler’s company, Tuckpointing and Masonry, close to $10,000 in late June to build her a jacuzzi.

But after hiring Marler, weeks passed without answers on the project’s start date.

“I’m like ‘hey, we need our money back’ and he’s like ‘just sue me,’ Guisewite recalled. “I was just shocked and very upset.”

So Guisewite called News 4 for help.

After several attempts to track down Marler, there was still no response.

It turns out there are pages and pages of law suits filed against him in Missouri, which might have something to do with him dodging News 4.

He owes Yellow Book close to $50, 000 and the Missouri Department of Revenue just over $6,000.

News 4 was eventually contacted by Marler’s attorney late last week. He said he’d talk to Terry and get back to us, but we still have not heard anything.

Guisewite is taking Marler to small claims court. The court date was set for Wednesday, but it didn’t happen because Marler was not served his notice to appear after he could not be located.
