(KMOV.com) -- A new report released this week predicts 80 million Americans with health care plans from their employers will have their coverage canceled because the plans are not compliant with the Affordable Care Act.
The latest estimate comes from the American Enterprise Institute, a non-profit public policy research company.
The group estimates half to two-thirds of medium-sized businesses will have policies canceled, or be compelled to send workers onto the healthcare exchanges for their insurance.
Most of those would come from companies with between 50 and 199 employees.
University of Missouri St. Louis economist Susan Feigenbaum says it will cost many of those companies less in fines than to upgrade to plans that meet the minimum requirements.
