(KMOV) – It’s safe to say most people grab a Gatorade or water to stay hydrated during and after a work-out. But scientists say the best post-workout drink is actually beer.
Researchers in Spain have found that beer can help the body rehydrate better. They say the carbonation helps quench the thirst and the carbohydrates can help replace lost calories.
The research involved students who were told to work out until their body temperatures reached 104 degrees.
Half of them were then given water while the other half were handed beer.
Those who drank the beer had a hydration effect that was “slightly better” than the ones who drank water.
